Yes\u2026 and also no. There\u2019s timing, patience, consistency, and a whole lot of \u201cwhy did you do that there<\/em>?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s break it down properly \u2014 without the robotic nonsense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First things first: your puppy is not being \u201cnaughty\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is important. Your puppy isn\u2019t plotting against your rugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They don\u2019t have bladder control yet. Think of them like a tiny, wobbly toddler who drinks water and then immediately needs to go. There is no holding it. There is no warning. There is only\u2026 chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you go into this thinking they\u2019re being difficult, you\u2019ll get frustrated fast. If you go in understanding they literally can\u2019t help it yet<\/em>, everything becomes easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The golden rule: take them out constantly<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

And when I say constantly, I mean it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • After every meal<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • After every nap<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    Yes, it feels excessive. Yes, it\u2019s annoying. But this is what builds the habit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You are not waiting for them to tell you \u2014 you are beating them to it<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Pick a toilet spot and stick to it<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Dogs love routine. Pick one area outside and keep taking them there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Accidents will happen (a lot)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Let\u2019s be honest \u2014 your puppy will<\/em> wee on the floor. Probably multiple times. Possibly right after you\u2019ve just taken them outside. It\u2019s humbling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Here\u2019s how to handle it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Take them straight outside<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Clean it properly (enzymatic cleaner if you can \u2014 normal cleaners don\u2019t fully remove the smell)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Every dog has little signals before they go. You just need to spot them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                If used properly, a crate can make house training much easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Dogs naturally don\u2019t want to mess where they sleep. A crate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Helps them learn to hold it (within reason)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Prevents them wandering off to secretly pee in corners<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Builds routine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  Important: the crate should be cosy, not massive. Too big, and they\u2019ll just use one end as a toilet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Consistency beats everything<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                  You don\u2019t need to be perfect \u2014 you just need to be consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  If one day you\u2019re on it, taking them out regularly, and the next day you\u2019re distracted and forget\u2026 you\u2019re basically resetting progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
